May 16, 2012 in Mills River as Mission Hospital Proposes (again) to Relocate Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Room to Fletcher, NC
On August 29, 2011, Mission Hospital's request of the Department of Health and Human Services for a Certificate of Need to relocate an Endoscopy Suite to Fletcher, NC was rejected by the state. The rejection notice stated that the argument for the project presented by Mission Hospital was unreliable, inconsistent and overstated. Mission Health had 30 days to appeal the decision through the Office of Administrative Hearings, but did not follow through the process.
Mission Hospital has applied again for a Certificate of Need to move one Endoscopy Suite to Fletcher. On May 16, 2012, at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research & Extension Center in Mills River, a public hearing occured at 11 a.m. where state representatives recorded public statements for and against Mission's new application.
